From the very first page, I was hooked on a world that is both real and fictional. You are given facts of history that you might have never known. Although Siobhan is the main character in The Devil’s Prayer, we actually see less of her as the story is pretty much all about her mother. Throughout the book, Siobhan learns what happened to her mother on the fateful night that was responsible for a cascade of events to happen, which would affect the world.
The book is a sordid tale of a woman’s journey for answers and redemption. Siobhan finds her mother’s confession and learns that hidden within the pages contains The Devil’s Prayer, an ancient text with the power to unleash apocalyptic evil. After reading it she learns things that she could never dream of, while extremist monks chase her to retrieve what her Mother had stolen. Each entry in the Confession shows her the history of her own life as well as pieces she never expected. The Devil’s Prayer takes us through time with a strong narrative voice, showing deplorable and wonderful scenes.
I think the book is also very well researched, and the historical facts are fascinating, the entire book is filled with excitement, terror, and a lot of bloodshed and pain, it’s just an incredibly well-written book all around, and I can highly recommend getting it. I don’t think you will be disappointed at all. As an added bonus, I’ve read that this book will be having a sequel sometime in 2017, and I’m so hoping this is correct information.
