I am absolutely thrilled that I came across this game. There’s so much more to Little Nightmares than I could have ever dreamed of. I’m still playing it but I wanted to tell more people about it while everything was still fresh in my mind.
The graphics and artwork are simply amazing and everything, from the rooms to the objects in each one were incredibly detailed. The designing of all the characters are, well, perfect. All the background sounds are on cue and sort of eerie, and the ambiance is perfect. You know when you are walking on really soft and plush carpeting, and you know that when you step on something that breaks, it will alert any of the enemies nearby. You can hear the subtle breathing and snoring of things that are close, you can hear things bumping around and even slow, soft moaning. I believe that you will agree that you will hear so much more than you will actually see, and that’s really creepy in itself.
We also get lots of hidden collectibles in this game that are very cleverly hidden, and so much fun to find. I didn’t really follow the story all too well, but it was definitely dark. This only means that I will for sure play it again to get a better understanding of the ‘whys’ of the game while I’m searching for some of the achievements to complete. I’ve read that some people think that the controls could be better mapped out to the keyboard and I’m going to have to agree with them. I suppose there might be a way to re-configure them but I’m not 100% sure. I will look more into that on my next go around.
I went into Little Nightmares with high expectations and it did not disappoint at all. This is a great and fun game and easily becoming one of my favorites. There is a really good mixture of horror and puzzle while keeping it challenging, but not insanely hard. Although this game is very fun it’s not 100% perfect. As there are a couple of bugs here and there. My little character ended up getting stuck a few times in the moving objects on the floor, and once I was actually pulled through the floor by one of the monsters. But honestly, that was a trip because it added to my suspense! I also loved all the sneaking around in the gloomy rooms working the puzzles while every once in a while stopping to light one of the lamps.
I had no issues with overall performance, nor did the game ever stall on me. No fps issues, or any other problems. If I ‘had’ to list a complaint, it would be that the game is a little too short for the $19.99 they are asking for it. That still does not change the fact that this is an awesome game, so if the price is your deal breaker, just wait for it to go on sale because it really does go very cheap at times. As I said, I haven’t actually completed the game yet and that’s because I spend way too much time savoring games I end up loving, and if you think the game is too short for you, there are a few DLC you can purchase to play even more of the game.
